In 1982, Demptos opened a subsidiary in the United
States: Demptos Napa Cooperage. Located in Napa Valley, California, this
cooperage makes barrels from American oak as well as from the staves
prepared and shipped from Demptos Bordeaux.
The American oaks (species Q. alba),
carefully selected for the finest grain, all come from an exclusive
designated forest in Missouri, which has exceptionally high quality
timber.
Highly skilled in the use of Q. alba for barrel-making, Demptos Napa Cooperage has demonstrated the
qualities of its "new generation" of American oak barrels both in the
United States and worldwide.
